Creativity is Persistence
BIONET has announced six pioneering biotechnology-base services over the years, beginning with cord blood storage, and moving onto umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell and stem cell revitalizer of placenta, then lately exploiting the development of dental pulp stem cell. In the field of genetic/medical diagnostic service, in 2005 BIONET had introduced the first pre-natal genetic testing on Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), then recently launched the serum screening test on Down Syndrome, and the ground-breaking Pre-Implantation Genetic Diagnosis (PGD) for couples carrying familial single-gene inherit disease or disorder. In summary, BIONET has developed these cutting-edge services classified into two major fields, cell therapy and genetic testing.
In 2004 BIONET originated the innovative cord blood storage pack “reciprocity” and the unique business model was awarded for the first Taipei BioTech Commerce Award. The pattern of creativity perfectly demonstrates that BIONET is well capable of transforming technical development from the basis to commercialized and marketable service. It has been the crucial factor to maintain balance between research expenses and revenue, which is truly entitled to set example in regards for the entire industry.
Dr. Christopher Tsai has been familiar to most of the committee board as he had won series of reward for individual industrialists and enterprisers during the past decade. As the leader of marching BIONET task force, Dr. Tsai had always gratefully considered all the rewards as step-wise benchmarks and had translated them into motivation for the next perspective, instead of holding position. For example, immediately after his winning of 2005 and 2006 Young Entrepreneur Awards, BIONET was nominated in November 2007 for the 14th Creative Research Award by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, for introducing the first pre-natal genetic testing on Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA).
Professional is More Than Slogan
BIONET was recognized as one of the representative companies by Bureau of Industry under the category of technical service in 2006. It was the first time in the country for members in stem cell industry to receive such an honor.
In 2007 R.O.C. Department of State (Executive Yuan) held the 1st Biomedical Company Competition, and BIONET earned the silver award for his outstanding management and achievement. Soon afterward the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries Program of Ministry of Economic Affairs selected BIONET as one of the rare three government-assisting companies with emphasis, which means implicitly BIONET is on the top list of the government supporting plan of nourishing the biotechnical and pharmaceutical industries.
Moving Upward Always
While the bio-industry has been fairly matured in USA, Europe, and Japan, the progress of which of in some Asian countries such as Singapore, Korea and China has gradually developed and moved considerably steadily in particular of stem cell research. As one of the leading biotechnical firm, BIONET have accepted the duty to face the global challenge and competition of foreseeing the future, establishing the bridgehead, and driving the regional industries to aim for worldwide overtaking with humble and yet active spirit....(end)
